The Wound

A powerful and challenging new Moroccan film, The Wound (La Plaie) marks
the directorial debut of Seloua El Gouni, who has previously worked as a
production manager on Hollywood film such as A Hologram for the King and
Men in Black: International. It stars rising Arab talent Oumaïma Bari – who
featured in Sofia Alaoui’s 2023 Sundance title Animalia – as Leila, a young
woman trying to pursue her ambitions while having to deal with Morocco’s
societal constraints as she juggles family pressures, work complications, social
desires and male attention
