The Wedding Banquet

A romantic comedy brimming with energy and compassion, Andrew Ahn’s The Wedding Banquet is a modern-day re-telling of Ang Lee’s much-loved 1993 classic of the same name (Ahn collaborated with the original’s co-writer James Schamus). Frustrated at lack of commitment from his boyfriend Chris, Min makes a suggestion – a green card marriage with his friend Angela in exchange for in vitro fertilisation for her partner Lee. Comedy and challenges abound when Min’s grandmother surprises them with a lavish Korean wedding Banquet.
